There is something very American about this documentary, as it not only chronicles the life of one man's determination and true grit to overcome the odds placed before him, but it also explores the bond between Jeff and his parents. It's a story of a hard working father, Laverne Henderson who made a huge sacrifice by working two jobs in order to provide for his family, which consequently left Jeff's mother Debra at the helm, ensuring that Jeff and his siblings made it to and from their extracurricular activities. She often provided the needed motivation, pushing the Henderson tribe to go beyond expectations, but just when Jeff had started making his way in high school athletics, his mother was stricken with the Alzheimer's disease and it devastated the family. Although Jeff was a self proclaimed "mama's boy", he refused to give up on his dream of making something of himself.

After graduating from Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Arkansas, Jeff found himself with no college prospects. It was a dark time, but at the last minute, Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi reached out and awarded Jeff with a scholarship. From there, Jeff endured the ebb and flow of college sports and after settling in and transferring to two other institutions, he finally graduated from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he excelled and broke several of the school's long-standing track and field records. Then he met Olympic gold medalist, Al Joyner who eventually became Jeff's trainer and mentor. Al also trained his late wife who is known as the World's Fastest Woman, Florence Griffith-Joyner. Things were starting to look up! This documentary  chronicles the entire journey!
